Public Service

In order to improve public services, it has made various efforts to improve the supervision of pre market and post-market, among others consisting of the following activities (1) the registration of drug and food; (2) the notification of cosmetics; (3) the implementation of import and export product certification including drugs and foods so it can be implemented excellently (PRIMA) (continuous service improvement) In addition, other efforts are revitalizing human resources, intensifying service system, clipping service bureaucracy, resolving customer complaints with the motto of public service CEPPATT (Handy, Efficient, Professional, Definite time and costs, Accurate, Transparent and Responsive).
One of focus priorities and strategies to strengthen post-market surveillance of drug and food is to increase the certification of production and distribution facilities as well as the strengthening of supervision of drug and food importation by supervising entry product before getting in and out of Indonesia by issuing Certificate of Export (SKE) and Certificate of Import (SKI). Drug and Food Supervision as an integral part of health development is and will be facing a very dynamic strategic environment. Economic globalization, advances in science and technology and regional agreements such as the harmonization of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) has consequences and significant implications on the Drug and Food Control System (SisPOM). Drug products and other pharmaceutical supplies and food will be easier to get in and out from one country to another without major obstacles. This reality requires that Indonesia has SISPOM that is effective and efficient way to protect the health and safety of all Indonesian people from health risk products. At the same time, SISPOM should have a strong base in order to be able to become the filters on the quality of Drug and Food of Indonesian products which are exported to various countries.
With the largest number of people and the largest archipelago in ASEAN, Indonesia deserves to have the best SiSPOM in ASEAN including human capital, operational systems and infrastructure. In this context it is necessary to strengthen the competence and capability of NADFC so that it has a world-class performance. In the future NADFC will be developed into a knowledge-based institution with strong, dynamic and cohesive national and international networks. Simultaneously, NADFC empowers the public (public empowerment) so that people have the awareness and the ability to prevent and protect themselves against the risk of drug and food that do not meet the applicable standards.
Related to the protection of public health from the risks of drug products that do not qualify the standards, then NADFC through its public relation unit (ULPK) and Drugs and Food Information Centre (PIOM) have a strategic role as it relates to the needs or demands of people who want the availability of precise, fast, accurate and up to date information through the support of structuring of information system or management information systems (SIM) of drug and food supervision which is efficient and effective in NADFC environment.
Drug and Food are human basic need but they also may cause risk to public health and safety if they are not managed properly or the products are used improperly or even misused. Therefore it is necessary to do an effort to increase knowledge and awareness of public so that they would be able to shield themselves from the risks of using products that do not meet the requirements of quality, safety and efficacy as well as prevent abuse and false use of hard drugs, narcotics, psychotropic substances, addictive substances / cigarettes and products as well as other hazardous materials sustainably and professionally so that people can consume these products with quality, safety and efficacy / benefit that can be accounted for.
In order to improve public health protection from the risks of drug products that do not qualify, then Food & Drug Monitoring Agency develops programs and activities to put forward safeguards to the public on the basis of risk analysis. The strategic role of the agency, which is part of the public services provided to the community through information, education and communication (KIE). To carry out the strategic role, the agency has public relations namely ULPK and PIOM through two units of information services that are the National Drug Information Center (PIO Nas) and the National Poisoning Information Center (Siker Nas). PIO Nas is a service unit that provides access to standardized information (approved label) of all drugs circulating in Indonesia, which has been approved by NADFC as the National Regulatory Authority. PIO Nas is also a reference in information and consulting services in all aspects of drug use.
PIOM prepares ready-made information which is accurate, correct and up to date to be given or distributed to both internal circles of the agency and the general public, health professionals and government agencies or the private sectors who need it.
Submitted information system is an integrated information system which facilitates decision-making with the strategic role of TIK to achieve the proper functioning of the Integrated online Information System Management.
Along with the era of information technology today, the implemented KIE strategy and media used are also using information technology that are much in demand in society so the approach is in accordance with what is in the community.
